History of CLASS
The Contact Lens Assessment of Symptomatic Subjects (CLASS) Study group formed at the 2012 American Academy of Optometry/American Optometric Foundation Summer Research Institute in Columbus, OH, USA. The original focus of the group was aimed at better understanding how meibomian gland atrophy was associated with contact lens comfort and contact lens dropout. While the team is still working on this topic, it has also conducted studies related to dry eye survey development, methods for measuring meibomian glands, and contact lens care and compliance. The team is also interested in developing preventative measures which will allow contact lens users to comfortably wear their lenses for more hours per day and for more years.
